MY TOUR OF LIVEPROOL
The following attractions are all within walking distance of each other. One attraction follows on the next attraction as we walk around the city.

METROPOLITAN CATHEDRAL
No Cathedral has ever been built in a short time (5 years) – yet taken so long to reach fruition (120 years). A scheme started in the 1850’s was abandoned, as was Sir Edward Lutyen’s dream of a Cathedral, second only in size to St Peter’s in Rome. It’s most striking feature is the Lantern Tower, containing the world’s largest stained glass window.

Originally designed by Sir Giles Scott, building commenced in 1904 and wasn’t completed until 1978. The building is constructed of local sandstone in a free Gothic styles and has the highest Gothic arches and vaults ever built. The tremendous organ has nearly 10,000 pipes and is the biggest to be found in any church. The bells are impressive, too.
